In this program, recent audiences, homilies, messages and addresses of the Pope, the living successor of Saint Peter, are broadcast. Most often this is the actual voice of the Pope. When the Pope is not speaking in English, voice-over of the English translation is broadcast. In some cases, such as with the Pope’s messages, when there is no recording of the Pope’s voice to broadcast, the teaching may simply be read by a bishop or priest without the Pope’s voice.
The power of Saint Peter's office was bestowed on him by Christ: "You are Peter and on this rock I build my Church and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it" (Matthew 16:18) The power of Saint Peter's office calls down the Holy Spirit on all the Jews gathered in Jerusalem on Pentecost and even calls down the Holy Spirit on the Gentiles in the encounter with Cornelius and his household. The power of Saint Peter is still at work through the Successors of Saint Peter, the Popes. Through the Pope, Saint Peter is still speaking and the power of the Holy Spirit is still falling on those who listen.
